Do your kids love rocks, minerals and fossils? Help them learn the difference between igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic rocks! Get your kiddos registered to our Homeschool or Afterschool program; but act fast, we have limited seats!
When you register for all three classes, include in the notes the month and time you want your kiddos attending. Registration closes for each month on the first Thursday of the month. Don't worry, if you may miss a class, just use your credit the month after!
The Rock Cycle Class (1st Thursday)
Teaches fundamental skills all geologists or Earth Science enthusiasts should master to understand the type of rock around them. They learn how gravity and buoyancy interplay and cause the rocks to alter into different types. They also learn how to observe with a magnifying glass the texture, and what a rock is composed of. Would another perspective on gravity, buoyancy, hardness and density help to fortify your curriculum, this class blends the sciences and holistically teaches rock identification.

The Moh's Hardness Testing Class (2nd Thursday)

Teaches kids about hardness, luster, density, the difference between a rock and mineral, and how to test for what a mineral is in the field. Kids get to learn the scratch test and Moh's Hardness test with their minerals while learning about atoms and their bonds! Why does your diamond not get scratched by anything, we will teach you!

Fossils And Lithification Class (3rd Thursday)

This class is filled with hands on, interactive experiments to learn how layers are deposited over time, how rocks and crystals will form after deposition, and the marvelous process required for life to get preserved as a fossil! Kids will discover all types of fossils and Megalodon teeth! They will see crystals grow before their eyes, watch as layers deposit in real time, understand how a aquifer works and be able to tell the difference between the different types of fossils that exist!

Everyone keeps all the rocks, minerals and fossils they find at the end!

Each class has 4 time options:

  • Class 1: 10am
  • Class 2: 11am
  • Class 3: 3pm
  • Class 4: 4:30pm
