The Katy Rock Shop’s Rock Cycle class will include minerals and rocks for everyone to keep! Topics include: demonstration of erosion and deposition of river systems, how to describe rock properties with a magnifying glass, supersaturation & the crystal growth experiment, and mineral fluorescence.

Students will:

• Use magnifying glasses to observe rock grains and textures.

• Relate observations to the three major rock groups.

• Practice critical skills: gravity, buoyancy, observation, deductive reasoning, and identification of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
