Are you an educator and running a Scouting troop; or are you looking to augment your curriculum with a a currated Earth & physical Science programs for 1st through 5th grade TEKS.

The Katy Rock Shop’s Mobile Sluice experience includes:

• Mining ore bags contain rough gems or fossils from different regions or countries around the world
• Mine with a water circulating mining sluice and our sieves to uncover your gems
• Fun for everyone! Up to 15 children or 12 adults can mine simultaneously.
• After uncovering your gems, bring them to a table and our friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you identify your new treasures!
• Don’t forget to take home your gems and the burlap mining ore bag!

For families or small groups, it will take a child or adult a few minutes to mine the bag and usually 10 to 20 minutes to identify the gems with one staff actively helping to organize them into groups. Very often some will stay looking at their treasures for as long as an hour! For groups up to 20 expect to take a full hour for everyone to complete their experience. For groups with more than 50 people expect the event to run 2-3 hours. Enjoy your mining experience!

Prices Range: $10-$15(per bag)

Host During a Sluice Saturday: Host your event at the Katy Rock shop during a regular event day and get your own water circulating runner for 1 hour. This package is $250 and is credit for chosing bags.

Host During Normal Hours: Host a private event at the Katy Rock Shop any day of the week for 2 hours. This would include $500 in credit towards bags.

Sluice Mobilizes to You: There is a minimum purchase to mobilize the Sluice to a location for 4 hours in the Katy Area. This would include purchase of 100 Bags, or a $1,000 minimum total spend.

Add-ons: drinks, catering, collector bags, extra bags

Some Considerations

• Katy Rock Shop will need access to a water source with hose and a normal 110 electrical outlet. If there isn’t availability of either, please contact us(info@katyrockshop.com)to discuss special arrangements.
